Fantastic night when Ireland's finest, the fabulous Saw Doctors, paid their first-ever visit to Salisbury City Hall, with a fine support set from Keith Mullins with his band The Winter Promise on 10th. December 2011.
The third Altar Club at Salisbury Arts Centre on 26th. November 2011. Headlined by the splendid and manic China Shop Bull from Leeds, with support from Salisbury post-punk rockers The Dead Belles, dirty electro-dance from Dirty Rouge, and huge industrial synthpop from Gemma and Dave of Dreams Divide.
American guitar heroes Walter Trout and Popa Chubby at Salisbury City Hall, on their "Giants of Blues Rock" tour, 25th. November 2011.
High-energy night at the Winchester Gate on 18th. November 2011 with a visit from the splendid Upbeat Allstars and a support set from old friends The Intercepteurs. Who did have Helen on keyboards and fiddle, but since she hid in the shadows and wore a matt black top she was beyond the reach of the camera.
The Sarum Stroll on 29th. October 2011. Free music in loads of pubs in Salisbury to raise money for The Rose Gale Trust which supports young people in Salisbury - please visit their website to see what they do. I managed to get to the Royal George to see Stiff Joints, Cloisters for Under the Counter and The Old Ale House for Stone Donkey Pilots and The Dan Sowerby Band. Excellent music and atmosphere at all three, and other places with bands on looked pretty busy so let's hope it raised lots for the trust.
The inaugural Altar Club at Salisbury Arts Centre on 24th. September 2011 with loud Salisbury rockers My Design, stunning high-energy rockabilly from Las Pistolas, and more subtle folky-tinged stuff from rising London stars Gecko.
An Evening With Davey Arthur And Friends at Salisbury's St Elizabeth Hall on 10th. September 2011.
Irish music legend Davey Arthur brought his son Patrick - a star bodhrán player - and guitar wizard Steve Layton to entertain us with a splendid evening of songs, dance tunes and stories. Thery were supported by a short set from Salisbury singer Jadiie Pepperell, accompanied by Ryan Whitston on guitar. Another success for Irish Music on Tour in support of Salisbury Hospicecare Trust. Finbarr reckons that after more than twenty years of bringing the best of Irish music to Salisbury, and raising over £20,000, this will be his last IMOT promotion.
Ukulele night at the Winchester Gate on 20th. August 2011 with sets from Warmer Corners and The Frenzied And The Diligent, and a couple of all-comers jam sessions organised by Ash-kele-Lee.
A night of contrasts at the Winchester Gate on 19th. August 2011 with mellow acoustic ambience from Finglebone (aka Adam Varney) followed by loud energetic rock from Pugwall.
Another acoustic Friday at the Winchester Gate on 12th. August 2011 with sets from Gray Smith and Isobel Thatcher. No blues, despite the colour of the spotlights. Both have artist pages on Facebook but I can't make a direct link work, a quick search for their names will find them.
Friday night at the Winchester Gate on 5th. August 2011 with sets from Salisbury favourites The Intercepteurs, with Robb Blake helping on guitar, and Pyeshoppe. A warm-up gig for the following weekend's Endorse it in Dorset festival

Nostalgia overload at Salisbury's Chapel Nightclub at the party on 22nd. October to celebrate the publication of Frogg Moody and Richard Nash's fantastic book "Endless Beat" with performances from Newcombe & Roach, the Kitchens and The QTs. (The DBs also did a set but I had gone in search of proper beer by then so no photos, sorry.) The book gives a comprehensive history of Salisbury's music scene from 1970 to 1999, for more details go to Frogg's website Timezone Publishing.

Sunday with Urban Rain's Indie rock, The Intercepteurs with an unusual "plugless" ska set, Blackwater Void's Indie/grunge and great soulful reggae from Cardiff's Captain Accident and The Disasters.
