Fat bloke up a mountain (photo by Rob McIvor) Sunrise lights up the Tourmalet the next morning On the way down from the Tourmalet, looking towards Sainte Marie de Campan in the valley Strange local custom - there are stuffed bodies all over the place Starting the climb of the Col d'Aspin. The mountain is Pic du Midi-Bigorre, the Tourmalet crosses the ridge to the left of it

The furthest ridge is the main watershed of the Pyrenees Fat bloke up yet another mountain (photo by Gabriel Fox) Lloyd, showing signs of exertion on the Col de Val Louron-Azet. The snakey road on the other side of the valley is the climb to the ski station Pla d'Adet, used as a stage finish in the Tour de France Richard on the Col de Val Louron-Azet. The valley leading away and upwards in the background is the Col de Peyresourde

Col de Val Louron-Azet - one of my favourite pics from the trip Climbing the Peyresourde from the west - the road just goes on for ever That fat bloke again (photo by Gabriel Fox) Looking back up the road we've just come down from the Peyresourde. It must be very demoralising to go be faced with this going up. The Cycle Rides crew moonlighting one evening

This is the head of the valley of the river Garona/Garonne There he is again (photo by Rob McIvor) At the top of the Port de Bonaigua. This is the Pyrenean watershed and it's a long way up, cold, windy and desolate.

The quiet valley above Gerri de la Sal Nearly there - a bar in a field before the final descent The final descent from the Col de Perves to El Pont de Suert. Even up here there's no escaping from the cables. Journey's end, and a well-earned beer Another way to celebrate
